Council Activities

Our council is involved in a number of activities throughout the year. These include:

Church

Parish lay ministry (ushers, lectors, communion distributors, choir, and CCD teachers)

Corporate communion - celebrate Sunday Mass as a council (sit together) usually on 5th Sundays of a month

Seminarian support - scholarship gift of $500 annually to a seminarian from our parish

Rosary - usually said before a corporate communion liturgy

Community

Persons With Mental Disabilities Drive - members hand out Tootsie Rolls at community businesses and take donations to aid persons with mental disabilities

Sunfish Days parade - we have a float and walk in this Memorial Day weekend parade as part of Sunfish Days in Onalaska.

Rotary Lights - members assist in building various light displays and sponsor a Christmas tree and manager scene at this charity proceeds event which runs Thanksgiving through New Years.

High school scholarship - we sponsor a $350 scholarship to a graduating high school senior from our parish.

The 2010 St. Patrick’s Knights of Columbus scholarship application is now available on the Council web site. This $350 scholarship will be made available to a graduating high school senior of the parish who is pursuing post-secondary education.  Completed application documents need to be submitted by March 26th, 2010.  If you have any questions regarding the scholarship, please contact Brian Wyland at 526-4645. get the application

Council

Open gym - we sponsor a men's open gym at the parish school gym for basketball. All men are welcome.

Bowling - John Bates organizes council bowling events.

Parish breakfast - approximately every month from October through April our council holds a breakfast in our parish hall.

Parish fish fries - members help along side all parish members in working at these ACT committee events during each Friday during Lent.

Council banquet - every other year we hold a banquet for members and their wives in appreciation for the out-going Grand Knight and to celebrate other awards and accomplishments such as council Family of the Year.

Family

Family picnic - held annually at a city park for members and their families.

Golf outings - one or two outings are typically held each year.

Christmas party - co-sponsored each year with Council #839 of La Crosse.
Family of the Month/Year awards

Youth

Punt Pass and Kick Competition - we hold this activity in September at a community field.

Christmas Poster Contest - this is held for grades 1-4 in November/December. click here for rules and ID label.

Free Throw Contest - we typically have over 40 kids in our council level competition during January.
